Macrowine 2020
Dear Colleagues,
the ongoing issues associated with the Covid-19 emergency in Italy and other countries worldwide have forced us to reconsider the plans related to the Macrowine 2020 conference to be held in Verona in June.
The possibility to move the conference later in the year was considered but discarded due to the high unpredictability of the situation over such short period of time.
In an effort to explore alternative solutions, we thought of rescheduling the conference to the same period of 2021. However, as most of you know, 2021 was going to be the year of Invino Analytica Scientia (IVAS), the other biannual reference conference for the wine science community, which was going to take place in Neustadt.  After discussing with the IVAS 2021 organizing committee as well as with the IVAS permanent scientific committee, we are pleased to inform that the next Macrowine edition will be held in Verona in June 21-23 2021, whereas IVAS will take place in Neustadt in 2022.
We are very grateful to the colleagues in the IVAS committees and particularly to the IVAS 2021 organizing committee, who were all very  positive at the idea of finding a shared solution. It is a strong effort on behalf of all the stakeholders to keep together the wine science community and respond properly to the worldwide crisis due to COVID-19. We hope that the interventions that are progressively being implemented everywhere, along with the work of medical teams and researchers around the world, will push us soon out of this very critical situation.

Abstract submission

Deadline for all Abstracts submission
  1. Grapevine diversity and viticultural practices for sustainable grape growing
  2. Microbial ecology from vineyard to consumption
  3. Novel tools and strategies for precision and sustainable varietal and regional enology
  4. Wine longevity and shelf-life
  5. Chemical diversity of 'special' wine styles: fortified wines, passito style, botrytized and ice wines, orange wines, sparkling wines
  6. Physiology of chemosensory perception, sensory science, consumers perception
Abstract acceptance
  • abstract content will be the basis for acceptance of the paper presentation
  • members of the Scientific Committee will review abstracts, then authors will be informed about acceptance
Guidelines for abstract submission
  • abstract submission will be accepted only via the Conference website (please check STEP 2 at the bottom of the page)
  • title, author names, author affiliations will be insert by the online submission
  • you will upload the only text of your abstract, please check STEP 1 at the bottom of the page

Guidelines for abstract format
  • abstracts must be written in English
  • abstract should be of at least 200 words, but not exceeding 350 words including title, authors names, affiliations and acknowledgments
  • page should be 21.59 cm x 27.94 cm and margins should be 3 cm
  • please use font type Times New Roman, with single spaced lines
  • title of the paper (style: normal,14 pt, centred) should not span in more than two rows, and should be followed by one blank line
  • author names should be written (style: normal, 12 pt, centred) with initials followed by dot and family name written in full; authors should be separated by commas and marked with superscript when necessary to distinguish authors from different affiliations
  • author affiliations (style: italics, 12 pt, centred) should be written in separate rows when there are more than one and the last is followed by two blank lines
  • abstract text (style: normal, 12 pt) should not be justified and the paragraphs should not be indented, only separated by one blank line
  • charts or graphics cannot be included in the abstract
  • abstracts text only must be saved as a MS Word document and submitted online
